The Bureau national interprofessionnel du cognac (BNIC) - the trade body - has approved a budget for the first seven months in 2006 of 6.8 million euros. 29% is destined for the legal department, 25% for the defense of the product and the viticultural station, 21% for promotion.

Kim Birkedal-Hartmann is the third largest cognac merchant in Norway. His headquarters are in Jarnac and he is in partnership with Philippe Braastad-Tiffon. The cognac house sells about 400,000 bottles each year throughout the world.

Workers at Rémy-Martin voted on 21 October to return to work on 24 October, following a decision by management to grant a pay increase to the 28 lowest salaries ( about 200 euros) and to temporary workers (5%).

LVMH : results for first 9 months

LVMH has reported sales of 9.598 billion euros for the first nine months of the year. The Moët-Hennessy division (wines and spirits) had sales of 1.684 billion in this period, a rise of 12%.
