Anniversary cuvée for pineau

The special cuvée or blend to mark the 60th anniversary of the pineau committee, called “Diamant”, has been produced by Pascal and André Favre at St-Pierre-d’Oléron (Charente-Maritime). The rosé will be aged in oak casks for 8 months while the white will be aged for 12 months.

For the next four years Joël Foucault and Claude Mannalin, both in the Medef employers’ union, will occupy the two seats being contested yesterday at the Angoulême commercial court, following the closure of the court in Cognac. Joël Foucault is the last representative of the cognac sector.

Cognac : improved shipment results

Shipments of cognac rose by +14.7% in volume in September. This makes up somewhat for the figures of recent months but the trend still remains negative at -3.9% over twelve months.

A close associate of J. Mardikian, the Armenian entrepreneur H. Hakobyan, who has a project for a fish farm to produce caviar along with cognac, has made redundant all the personnel at the château de Châtenay in Cognac. However, he has promised that he will be a net creator of jobs in the long term.
