Recipes with pineau in English

The 3rd edition of the recipe book « Cuisine au pineau » by Françoise Barbin-Lécrevisse, which appeared when « La cuisine du cognac et du pineau » (Cooking with cognac and pineau), published in 1998, was split into two books, has just been published and includes an English version « Cooking with pineau ».

Pernod-Ricard : protecting against takeover bids

Pernod-Ricard (Martell cognac) has voted in favor of a resolution enabling it, in the event of a takeover bid, to issue free stock purchase warrants but decided against limiting voting rights.

Michel Gillet, a French chef living in Canada, owns the largest collection of cognac in the world. He has over 850 different bottles. His collection is estimated to be worth 550,000 euros. He is entered in the Guinness Book of Records.

Martell and its winegrowers

Martell has announced a 2.75% rise in the price it pays for eaux-de-vie and a 40% increase in the quantity acquired from the SICA-UVPC cooperative. The third largest cognac house is calling on its winegrowers to make efforts regarding quality.

Land affectation on 1 August 2008

During the visit by the EU Agriculture commissioner to Cognac on Tuesday, Dominique Bussereau declared that he would “keep to the schedule for the implementation of land affectation which will take effect on 1 August 2008”. He also announced that 2.5 million euros would be made available to provide help in training and information.

Vineyard restructuring and reconversion

The European Commission has allocated 450 million euros for the restructuring and reconversion of 56,498 hectares of vines in the European Union in 2006-2007. In France, 110,9 million euros will be allocated for 12,734 hectares.
